“The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen,” Acts 1:1-2 NKJV
🎯The moment Jesus was Spirit-filled He began to do some things until He was taken back to Heaven - when He was caught up to Heaven He went alive. His work was finished here on the earth. We are on assignment here on the earth until the Lord returns.
There is a lot of busy-ness to no purpose. There is a lot of routine to no purpose. There are a lot of distractions that are sent to take us from purpose. If we are born again we are to live this 'Spirit-filled Life' on purpose. Every void will be fulfilled and every need met if we remain focused on the great commission Jesus gave to the disciples before His departure. We are Jesus' disciples right now and we are called to greater works.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father." John 14:12 NKJV
🎯 The book of Acts was ministered primarily to the men and women who took the great commission seriously and began to spread the news of a risen Savior to the most remote corners of the known world. Jesus’ last recorded words on the earth accompany the great commission. Following were His words... a call to action (The Ministry of the Holy Spirit):
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.””
Acts 1:8 NKJV
🎯The moment Jesus was Spirit-filled He began His ministry. The moment you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit - baptism with fire - you are to start your ministry. Your ministry must be empowered by the Holy Spirit for God to receive the glory.
“When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age...
Luke 3:21-23 NKJV
🎯The following scriptures will increase faith to understand and know you are already empowered for the great commission:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,”
II Corinthians 5:17-18 NKJV
“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
II Corinthians 5:20-21 NKJV
“We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain.” II Corinthians 6:1 NKJV
🎯What is the great commission?
Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:16-20)
Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who [d]believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
(Mark 16:14-18 NKJV)
🎯We have been redeemed on purpose and for a greater purpose. We have the opportunity to live out of the Blessing when we obey the great commission. We are considered valuable - Jesus was traded for us… WOW. It had to be something or Someone of equal value. God is mindful of us and Jesus made us worthy to be in God’s presence.
REDEE'MED, pp. Ransomed; delivered from bondage, distress, penalty, liability, or from the possession of another, by paying an equivalent. (Webster 1828)
“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Galatians 3:13-14 NKJV
🎯Seek the kingdom first and have right priorities. Your every need will be tangibly met - spiritually, mentally, physically, relationally, and financially. When we seek the kingdom of God with our whole heart and allow the Holy Spirit to have His right place in our lives the heart of compassion to witness of God's goodness comes with the territory.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 NKJV
🎯God takes pleasure in the prosperity of HIS servants. Those who proclaim His goodness.
“Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, “Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness And of Your praise all the day long.”
Psalms 35:27-28 NKJV
“Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.” Psalms 37:3-5 NKJV
God will allow us to do whatever we want to do. We have not been called to be regular we have been called to be life changers. The only way we can really help others is by the power of God and by the witness He has called us to be of His goodness. The power of God changes lives and the witness of how His power has changed ours is a great testimony. Multitudes need to hear about Him through you. You will be amazed at the words that flow like a river of water through your mouth.. all to the glory of God that men and women be reconciled back to Him. ~TLW
